The Snooflie Yours Original — our first modular foraging mat
The story of our first product — a 60×80cm modular foraging mat with three detachable toys. Made in small numbers, sold out by word of mouth, and the design lessons we carried forward.
This is the story of our first product — the Snooflie Yours Original.
We made it in small numbers. It sold out by word of mouth, and we never made more. The successor is in development now. This is what it was, and what it taught us.
What it was
A 60 × 80cm modular foraging mat with three detachable toys built into the design — a generously-sized foraging surface that doubled as a set of smaller puzzles.
The mat itself carried several texture zones: chenille loops, fleece strips, woven ribbon channels, wool-felt panels. Treats hid in each zone differently — some called for gentle sniffing, some for a paw, some for patient committed foraging.
What made it different was the three detachable toys:
- The Snuffle Ball — a fleece pom-pom with hidden treat pockets. On the mat, it sat in a recess and added a third dimension to a flat foraging session. Off the mat, it became a flop-it-around floor toy.
- The Snuffle Cube — a striped fabric cube with an internal cavity for treats. A slow-feeder for the eager eater; a sniff puzzle for the patient one.
- The Snuffle Bag — a deeper cup-shaped pouch lined with cut ribbons. The biggest reward for the most committed nose.
Each toy lifted off and clicked back in. Owners could rearrange the layout, rotate which toys held treats, hide bigger rewards under harder zones. The mat could be a new puzzle every week — without buying a new mat.
How it came to be

The Original was made by hand in our workshop. Each mat took hours of cutting, weaving and stitching — Oxford cotton bases, chenille loops, fleece detachables, the embroidered Snooflie Yours heart at the centre. We chose pet-friendly colours that suit canine vision, premium natural-fibre materials, and finishing clean enough to sit in a living room without apology.
It wasn’t fast. It wasn’t cheap to produce. The first run was small.
What we learned
A few things stood out from the people who bought one and came back to tell us how it was working:
- Modularity matters more than we expected. The same set of toys staying interesting after weeks of use was a real differentiator. That principle is the one we kept.
- Size matters less than expected. Owners told us they’d prefer something smaller — easier to wash, easier to pack, easier to store. The bone-shape mats we make today are a direct response.
- The detachables aren’t just texture — they’re toys. Several customers told us their dog played with the Snuffle Ball separately, on the kitchen floor, long after the mat was put away. We hadn’t fully appreciated that when we designed it.
What’s next
We’re not making more of the Original. The successor is in development, taking the modular principle forward — informed by what owners have told us about size, weight, washability, and the role of the detachables.
It isn’t ready yet. We’re not going to put a date on it. We’d rather make the next edition properly than rush something out.
In the meantime, our current range carries the same fabrics, the same craft, the same considered design — just in a smaller bone shape, more practical for daily use. If you’d like to be among the first to hear when the next edition is ready, email us at hello@fureveryours.co.uk and we’ll keep your name on a quiet list.
