General

How is FurEver Yours different from other snuffle mats?

In short: better fabrics, multi-sensory textures, colours your dog can actually see, and difficulty that grows from puppy to adult.

For the full side-by-side breakdown — fabrics, textures, canine-vision colour, and skill level — see our Why FurEver Yours page. It’s the same story, photographed.

Are your photos AI-generated?

No. Every image on this site is a real photograph. Real dogs, real cats, real mats, real homes — either photographed by us or sent in by a customer who actually owns the product.

We don’t use AI to generate, embellish, or “lifestyle” any of our imagery. What you see is what you receive: same chenille, same Oxford cotton weave, same yellow felt bone embellishment, same blue chenille loops, same anti-slip base. No filter, no synthetic backdrop, no borrowed stock photo of a different dog on a different mat.

In a category where most competitors lean on AI lifestyle shots and stock photo composites, we keep this rule because it’s the simplest promise we can make: the mat you receive matches the mat you saw.

What can I put in a snuffle mat?

Almost anything dry, crunchy and pet-safe. Sprinkle the food across the surface, tuck pieces into the webbed loops, or hide treats within the wool-felt bone — let your pet forrage and sniff.

Safe to use

Daily favourites

  • Your pet’s usual kibble — the easiest starter
  • Training treats, freeze-dried liver, dental sticks
  • Bone-shaped biscuits — pictured centre

Crunchy vegetables (raw, in small pieces)

  • Carrot — chopped or coin sliced
  • Broccoli and cauliflower florets
  • Mangetout / snap peas
  • Red bell pepper strips
  • Cucumber cubes
  • Lettuce
  • Garden peas (frozen-defrosted or fresh)

Fruit (in moderation, no seeds, no core)

  • Apple slices
  • Cherry tomatoes (limit — some dogs are sensitive)
  • Blueberries

What to avoid

These are toxic or just bad ideas for a snuffle mat:

  • Grapes, raisins, sultanas — toxic to dogs even in small amounts
  • Onions, garlic, chives, leeks — toxic
  • Chocolate, coffee, anything with xylitol — toxic
  • Avocado, macadamia nuts — toxic
  • Anything sticky or wet — peanut butter, yoghurt, sauces — makes the mat hard to clean
  • Cooked bones — splinter risk

If you’re ever unsure about a specific food, check with a qualified person.

How much to use

For a typical 66 × 48 cm mat:

  • Replacing a meal — measure out your pet’s normal portion and sprinkle it across the mat. Foraging slows them down by 5–10× compared to a bowl.
  • A treat session — a small handful of kibble + a few veg pieces is plenty for 10 minutes of sniffing.

10 minutes of focused sniffing is a mental exercise — Measure success in engagement, not how fast the mat is cleared.

What is a snuffle mat and why use one?

A snuffle mat is an enrichment product made from different materials and designed to enable the foraging , sniffing and exploratory instincts of animals. Treats, kibble and dry food bits are spread out and concealed within the textured product and the pets are allowed to take their time and find them.

Such an activity helps pets to focus and use their brain as they sniff the treats providing them an enrichment of the mind that tires them out more than a physical one. It also acts as a slow-feeder and helps to direct disruptive behaviours towards a calm one. Snuffle Mat helps to beat boredom as it gives the pets an interactive activity to use their energy.

What size pets are your mats suitable for?

Our Snuffle Mat when opened measures 66cm × 48cm × 4cm — comfortably suitable for all small breeds through to most large breeds. Senior dogs, pets in recovery, and even cats love them. For multi-pet households we recommend one mat per pet to avoid mealtime negotiations.

Care

How do I clean my snuffle mat?

Machine wash on a gentle cycle at 30°C with a mild, pet-safe detergent. We recommend air drying to maintain the fabric quality and the integrity of the woven loops. A mild fabric conditioner can be used to soften the material if needed.

Materials

Why aren't these in pink, red, or rainbow colours?

Because your dog can’t really see them.

Dogs, Cats and Small animals are dichromatic — their eyes have two cone types instead of three, so they see the world mostly in blues and yellows. Reds, pinks, and oranges register as muddy yellow-grey. Greens look washed out. A “rainbow” snuffle mat that pops to a human eye reads as a flat, low-contrast blob to the animal actually using it.

We built the palette around what animals can see clearly:

  • Blues and yellows — the two ends of the canine visible spectrum, which means high contrast against each other and against the grey base. The mat reads as a textured field, not a smudge.
  • No reds, pinks, or bright greens — visually loud to humans, invisible to your pet.

It’s the same reason agility tunnels and gun-dog dummies tend to be blue or yellow rather than red. We’re designing for the user — and the user has four legs.

What materials do you use?

Each mat is composed of three Eco-conscious fabrics with different textures:

  • Oxford cotton — durable woven base, holds its shape wash after wash, webbed loops - higher challenge.
  • Chenille cotton — soft, plush strips perfect for hiding small treats
  • Wool-felt — stiffer patch shaped into a bone that creates deep foraging zones

The base of the mat is made with Oxford cotton and has an anti-slip underside which is non-toxic and safe for pets. It is designed to keep the mat in place on hardwood, tile or carpet. A raised border held with stiff sponge helps to keep the treats within.

Why do some loops look unevenly spaced?

It’s intentional — the uneven spacing creates different difficulty zones across the mat so the same product works for multiple skill levels and moods.

  • Chenille cotton sections — softer, looser, more open. The easier zones, where treats are quick to sniff out. Best for puppies, seniors, recovering pets, or dogs new to foraging.
  • Wool-felt bone — denser, tighter, structurally tougher. Built for dogs who like to scratch, paw, or bite at their work. Treats hidden here take real effort to reach, which keeps high-energy dogs engaged for longer.

By varying loop spacing across the mat, one product covers many uses: puppy → adult → senior, calm → high-energy, gentle nudgers → enthusiastic scratchers.

Practical tip: hide treats in the chenille for a quick reward day, move them into the wool-felt bone when your dog needs a longer challenge or has too much energy to burn off.

Shipping

Where do you ship from? Is your stock held in the UK?

Yes — every FurEver Yours snuffle mat is held in the UK and shipped from our UK address. It’s a small thing on the surface, but if you’ve ever bought a pet product online and been let down, you’ll know why we think it matters.

We’ve all had it happen. A listing says “in stock”, you order in good faith, and somewhere between checkout and delivery the story changes — the package quietly ships from overseas, the dates slip a fortnight, a customs charge lands on the doormat, or the mat arrives faulty and the seller has gone quiet. None of that is unique to snuffle mats; it’s a pattern across a lot of low-price imports.

We can’t fix that whole pattern. But we can promise this:

  • The mats are physically here, in the UK, in quantities we control
  • When the site says “in stock” we mean it — usually dispatched within 1–2 working days, Royal Mail Tracked
  • If something arrives faulty, you can email hello@fureveryours.co.uk and a real person will sort it
  • There are no customs charges to surprise you at the door

Do you ship outside the UK? Do you ship to the USA or Europe?

We currently ship to the UK addresses only. We are working on making our products available worldwide in future.

How long does shipping take?

We provide free shipping to addresses within the United Kingdom at present. Orders are typically dispatched within 1–2 working days, with delivery in 3–7 working days.

Interested pet retailers and businesses please contact us regarding the shipping information.

Returns

What is your returns policy?

We want every dog (and human) to love their FurEver Yours mat. If for any reason you’re not happy, you can return an unused mat in its original condition within 30 days of receipt for a full refund of the purchase price.

For hygiene reasons, we cannot accept returns on mats that have been used. If your mat arrives faulty, please email hello@fureveryours.co.uk within 7 days with a photo and we’ll arrange a free replacement.
